Empowering Inclusion: IUS FBA Hosts the Session on Raising Awareness about People with Disabilities in Labor Market
On Thursday, November 30, 2023, Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA) hosted an educational info session focused on raising awareness about people with disabilities and the challenges they encounter. The session was the result of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and Association "Želim biti dio društva". Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ognjen Riđić and Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Smajić warmly welcomed three young educators to engage with students enrolled in the Understanding Business (ECON105) course.
During the session, the educators shared insights into its past initiatives and engaged in a dialogue with students on advocacy for the improved inclusion of people with disabilities. Recognizing the importance of raising awareness for the social and economic integration of individuals with disabilities, students demonstrated a commendable level of understanding regarding the challenges faced by this community. However, the event underscored that despite the progress made, there remains substantial room for improvement in Bosnia and Herzegovina's efforts towards inclusion. Incorporating individuals with disabilities into the workforce is not only an act of corporate social responsibility but also a strategic business move. This approach aligns with a broader global trend, demonstrating that the inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor force benefits both the individuals and the businesses they become a part of. International examples illustrate how such inclusion not only enhances the lives of those with disabilities but also positively impacts the productivity and diversity of companies.
In conclusion, this educational session emphasized the paramount importance of advocating for the rights of people with disabilities. IUS reaffirms its commitment to fostering a more inclusive society, where the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities are acknowledged and actively addressed. This dedication aligns with a broader vision of societal progress that encompasses both educational endeavors and corporate responsibility, marking a significant step towards a more compassionate and equitable future.
